ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship

The ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship is a competition involving professional athletes who have been successful at the highest levels of jiu-jitsuwrestlingjudosamboshooto and mixed martial arts. The rules of the event disallow strikes while promoting grappling and submissions. The event runs every two years.

UTC’s Blackbelt Jiu jitsu Professor (Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida) along with 7 other Checkmat blackbelts were picked to compete this year and are China for this event right now!  Checkmat is representing hard this year. Marcus has been training extra hard for this, you’ve probably seen him in the box with me killing it to stay in top shape.  I want to wish them all the best of luck, I will try to keep you updated.
ADCC 2013 is quickly approaching; the event is being held this coming weekend in Beijing, China and some of the tops are already there or on their way. Last week, Leo Vieira and some of his Checkmat teammates arrived in Beijing and today, Andre Galvao and Rafa Mendes along with Gui Mendes and others are on a plane to Beijing. The early birds are looking to acclimate themselves to the local conditions and take away some of the jet lag so as to be even more ready for the tournament.

The majority of the competitors will arrive in Beijing on Thursday. Weigh ins are on Friday and competitions begins Saturday October 19, 2013

With the next UTC Paleo Challenge just around the corner, its time to whip out those favorite recipes. Here one for the upcoming Holiday for you to enjoy.   Stay tuned for the dates and details of the Paleo Challenge.

Pumpkin Paleo Pecan Pancakes


Recipe:
1/2 C pumpkin puree, organic, unsweetened
1/2 C almond butter
1/4 C chopped pecans, toasted
2 eggs
2 T honey
1 T vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. fresh ground nutmeg
Preheat a nonstick griddle to 400 degrees. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Pour onto hot griddle (desired pancake size). Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes (you’ll see the pancakes start to bubble and cook on the edges when they’re ready to flip). Flip and cook a couple more minutes. Top with your favorite all-fruit preserve or enjoy them just the way they are! This recipe makes about 4, 4-inch pancakes! A nice finale for Halloween!
